We are back after a long week of vacation. We had a really, really good time visiting my husband's brother and family. Lying by the pool and relaxing was a favorite activity! My sister-in-law gave me a new cookbook on Asian cooking that looks really great and I can't wait to try the recipes. An entire week without any animal chores, muck or being responsible for anything. -Thanks Angie!
San Diego is SO different than Snohomish! There are lots of palm trees, but I didn't see any chickens, sheep or vegetable gardens. Lawn mowing is not a major home activity like it is here, and our neice and nephew, same age as our older kids, surf almost every day. Instead of the dirty barn boots lined up just inside our back door, sandy wetsuits hang drying on the back patio, and surf boards lean by the front entrance instead of umbrellas.
Our San Diego relatives have their pool area for relaxing and grilling, and we have our fire pit and swing.Terra cotta tiles and stucco are replaced by our dense profusion of grass and green. My daughter thinks it's a pretty lame substitute.
While in San Diego it was summer but we came back to a completely different season here in Snohomish -fall is definitely here!
